Marathon

Terms

The rules of the road. Short, because the product is simple and we would rather you actually read them.

Who can use Marathon

You need to be 18 or older. Marathon is built for university students; it is not designed for, or directed at, children.

Marathon is currently in a closed beta. Access is by invitation, and testers are asked to agree to a short non-disclosure agreement before using it — which is the reason for the age floor above. Signing that agreement is entering into a contract, and we are not set up to take a guardian’s consent for one. If you are at university and under 18, write to us and we will sort out access without it.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has got into your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.

If you turn on the calendar feed, the secret link it produces is effectively a password for your deadlines. Share it carefully, and regenerate it if it escapes.

Your content

Your syllabi, tasks, notes and grades are yours. You keep ownership of everything you put in. You give us only the permission needed to run the product for you — to store your files, show them back to you, and send the relevant text to our AI provider when you use an AI feature.

If you make a class public on Discover or share a group assignment, you are choosing to show that content to other people, and you are confirming you have the right to.

What AI features are, and are not

Marathon uses AI to read syllabi, suggest plans, and answer questions about your workload. These features are genuinely useful and they are also genuinely fallible. They can misread a date, miss an assignment, or invent a detail.

Your syllabus and your instructor are the authority, not Marathon. Always check an extracted deadline against the real thing. We do not guarantee that AI output is accurate or complete, and Marathon is not a substitute for your own judgement about your own coursework.

Things not to do

  • Upload content you do not have the right to share.
  • Use Marathon to break your institution’s academic-integrity rules. A planner that helps you keep up is the point; a tool for cheating is not.
  • Try to access another user’s data, or probe the service for weaknesses.
  • Scrape, resell, or automate against the service without asking us first.

Cost

Marathon is free during the beta. If paid plans arrive, the price will be shown before any card form, renewals get an email in advance, and cancelling takes two clicks in Settings. That commitment is on the Trust page and we intend to keep it.

Ending it

You can delete your account whenever you like, and everything goes with it. We may suspend an account that is breaking these terms, and we will tell you why where we can.

The boring but necessary part

Marathon is provided as-is, without warranties. We work hard to keep it running and accurate, but we cannot promise it will never be unavailable or never be wrong. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — including a missed deadline.

If we change these terms materially, we will update the date at the top and, for anything significant, tell you in the app.
